Description
The rustic remains of the small but essential post office is just some of waht was left behind at Garnet, Montana, a mountaintop ghost town established during the Gold Rush days of the mid-to-late 1800's and populated on and off up to the mid-20th century. The entire town with its cabins, hotels, bars, churches and stores owned by the local miners and their families, was ultimately taken over by the Bureau of Land Management, which continues to manage and preserve its unique historical heritage to this day.
