Photographer Lorraine Devon Wilke Posts NEW Photography Reel

With new images to showcase and a widening range of viewers and collectors finding their way to her work, photographer Lorraine Devon Wilke chose the turn of the new year as a perfect moment to release her new "photography reel." Featuring work that has garnered particular attention from collectors and visitors to her site, selections were made from the full spectrum of her eclectic and wide-ranging galleries: "I’ve been told throughout my career that I’d be wise to streamline my focus, come up with a theme, a brand; a niche. But for whatever reason, and for better or worse, my artistic DNA does not seem to allow it. Never has. I remain convinced that ALL of art tells a story and that’s my gig: telling stories, however I choose to tell them. Hence, the eclectic nature of where my eye takes me!"

SKY Exhibit At The Griffin Museum Of Photography Features Devon Wilke Photograph

"Sky Reflected, Lisbon," a compelling photograph of clouds captured in the reflection of a downtown Lisbon building, is currently on display as part of the SKY exhibit at the Lafayette City Center, Boston, MA, sponsored by the Griffin Museum of Photography.

Paula Tognarelli, curator at the Griffin, originally put the exhibit together as an online show for Daniel Miller at the Duncan Miller Gallery in Santa Monica, CA. The show was such a success, she decided to transition it into a live exhibit in Boston.

"I have wanted to produce an exhibition on the concept of the sky for a while now. Daniel Miller gave me the opportunity to realize that dream. The response to the exhibit was incredible and many requested that the Griffin get the exhibit to a wall. The Lafayette City Center in downtown Boston made that happen for us.

"The artists of SKY responded with a wide artistic interpretation of the topic giving way to abstract, representational or conceptual...

The whimsical image of an ice cream truck, incorporated into the cover design by Chicago artist, Grace Amandes (www.graceamandes.com), plays a central role in the narrative of Devon Wilke's second novel, described as follows:

"Dan McDowell, a thirty-three-year-old portrait photographer happily set to marry his beloved Jane, is stunned when a slip of the tongue about an 'ex-girlfriend overlap' of years earlier throws their pending marriage into doubt and him onto the street. Or at least into the second bedroom of their next-door neighbor, Bob, where Dan is sure it won't be long. It's long.

"His sister, Lucy, further confuses matters with her 'soul mate theory' and its suggestion that Jane might not be his... soul mate, that is. But the tipping point comes when his father is struck...
